Re: Holopyga fervida or ignicollis ? male

Many thanks for your detailed answer Paolo. Actually I knew there were some changes to make in the taxonomy of Holopyga, but I was not aware about the new names, apparently I missed your paper, shame :wow:

Re: Holopyga fervida or ignicollis ? male

... Moreover, I think that this is complex of species (see the case discussed by Rosa & Pavesi 2021 on Holopyga gogorzae ). Reminder: the name H.ignicollis has changed. It is synonym of H. chrysonota . H. chrysonota (sensu Linsenmaier 1959) is now H. similis Mocsary, 1889 (basically the same ...

Holopyga fervida or ignicollis ? male

... seems to be half deep blue without golden reflection... much more than in my other specimens. But I guess the head is also deep blue for H. ignicollis , so that doesn't match? Thanks in advance. original.jpg

Re: Holopyga chrysonota ?

Ah great, so here is it... :)

Does the male look like the female (unlike H. ignicollis) ? I could find any info on the web.

Because I think the 2nd specimen could be a male.

Holopyga chrysonota

I found many of Holopyga, Northern France (close Le Havre), I think it is H. chrysonota as I doubt it could be H. ignicollis (?). That would be nice to get confirmation. Here are 2 specimens, it is a female on the first 2 first picture. I don't know about the other one. Cheers, ...

Re: Holopyga sp. from South Germany

Hi, @ Paulo: Thanks for Determination! So I can fix it. In this locality H. chrysonota, H. ignicollis and H. austrialis live together. That makes it sometimes a litte difficult for me. But I try to get better pictures. @ Horst: Ja, obwohl aus der Region nachgewiesen, ...

Re: Holopyga sp. from South Germany

... the first two show a male of H. austrialis. Maybe this goes into the direction of the animal I wished to have determinated. I cannot exclude H. ignicollis, but I took some pictures of animals who are probably males of H.chrysonota. All the best Paul

Re: Holopyga sp. from South Germany

Hi Paul,

it can be Holopyga austrialis or H. ignicollis, but it is not clear from the pictures.
Did you collect the specimen?
