Re: Large Chrysura? N Italy

Hi again Thibault. Thank you very much for responding. That’s great to have such a comprehensive reply, and another named species! I read now that refulgens is almost the largest chrysidid in Europe, I was struck by its large size. I should try and get some better images. Thanks again.

Re: Large Chrysura? N Italy

Hi Brian,

With this coloration, short hairs on head and thorax, angular metanotum and long third tergum, this is clearly Chrysura refulgens !

Large Chrysura? N Italy=> C.refulgens

... and after very quickly running and flying, it came again, at least four times in an hour (or perhaps different individuals?). I think it must be a Chrysura. Can this be confirmed? Is it possible to suggest the species? I do not have a view of the sternites. Might it be Chrysura austriaca? It seems ...

Re: Trip S-E France / Spain

Hi Frank !

Your pictures are really amazing !

I think your Chrysura is a Chrysura refulgens for the propodeum very angular, the coloration of sternites and the elongated shape of third tergum. ;)

Re: Trip S-E France / Spain

A Chrysura sp. found on my way, in the Drôme (S-E France). I thought first about C. rufiventris but I think it's not (?)

EDIT : Chrysura refulgens

Re: Chrysura trimaculata (?)

Hi Frank!

How large is this species?
I bet it's a very large one, around 10 mm.

I think it's Chrysura refulgens, as far as I know C.trimaculata is not distributed in S France.

Cheers

[Chrysura refulgens]

This second Chrysura was found in SE France in the Drôme 2 weeks ago.

Maybe Chrysura austriaca, what do you think ?

Cheers,
Frank

[Chrysura refulgens]

Hello again, I know I'm super active from June ! :D My guess is Chrysura trimaculata for this one that I found near Montpellier, S. France : (metascutellum seems elevated and very dense punctation...). Or could it be C. dichroa ? Am I right ? Thanks ! Frank ...
