Re: Pseudomalus Belgium ?

Nice pictures! Its a Hedychrum sp., malei, ts either H. nobile or H. niemelai , although the size makes the latter more probable. Potentially it could also be H. gerstaeckeri but the punctures on tergite 3 seem far too fine for that species. They cant really ...

Re: Chrysidids from Spain, July 2014

... pop up in my head when I posted it, but seeing as its a Sardinian endemic... it could of course be a related species. Are they related to H. gerstaeckeri (as rufipes was described as a ssp of it), or do they have their own species group? I should have collected some males, hopefully :) Dont ...

Re: In the garden

... much for this information! Of course Halictus could not be the host of Hedychrum spp. It was only a very old citation. On the other hand, Cerceris ... are well known as hosts of different Hedychrum : nobile , niemelai and gerstaeckeri . This is not a scientifical evidence, but it is surely an important ...

Re: In the garden

:welcome:

Nice pictures from S France!
Yes, you're right, this Chrysidid should be Hedychrum longicolle Abeille, even if it is easier to ID this species by direct examination of the specimen. Sometimes they can be confused with the more common H. gerstaeckeri.
