Re: Chrysis indigotea

... yes, you were right, Paolo! The pity is that now one good reason for visiting the south has gone... Yesterday I've found a C. viridula, what is also very late for our region. In my literature (Kunz, Linsenmaier, Wiesniowski etc.) they are listed til the mid of august. Maybe in a few years we can...

Re: Chrysis indigotea

Hi Paolo, I should visit south Europe in autumn... Kunz noticed June-August for flying and I understood that he meant the beginning of August cause when a species is listed till the end of the month, he wrote it down. Linsenmayer also noticed June- August. In the Rhine-area, where I know a few place...

Re: Chrysis indigotea

Hi Paul,

:ok:

interesting.
In southern Europe you can find C. indigotea until late September or October on dead trees and Quercus leaves.

Cheers

Chrysis indigotea

Hi folks,

two days ago I got a new species for the area of my village.
In my opinion it should be a female of C. indigotea, but you can correct me if I'm wrong.
They are very late this year, normally at this time their season is almost finished.

Best regards Paul

Re: C. fasciata or indigotea?

... the females of these two species almost have the same greenish-bluish colour, without red golden stripes, but from N Switzerland to N Europe Chrysis equestris females can be often recognized based on the colour. Ciao Paolo

Re: C. fasciata or indigotea?

Very nice, its should be a Chrysis fasciata, note that it has a extra lateral teeth or angle on each side of the T3, making it 6 toothed. C. indigotea and C. iris only have four teeth.
There are several other characters that differentiate C. fasciata from these species, head shape for example.

C. fasciata or indigotea?

Hi all
in 2012 I took pictures of a green-blue chrysidid wasp (7-9 mm) in the northern part of Switzerland. Is it C. fasciata or C. indigotea?
