Re: Hedychrum nobile/niemelai?

:welcome: Nick! Well your ID is correct, I can't say anything else. Usually the smallest specimens belong to H. niemelai , but occasionally also gerstaeckeri males are small. The question on hairs is only for sex ID, if they are erected, then they are males (nobile, niemelai, gerstaeckeri ...

Hedychrum: id possible?

... But the colorouring (very green) seems a bit 'off'' for the H. nobile/niemelai/gerstacki options. And I have recently found out (thanks to Alex) that Holypyga is also sometimes an option. I find it hard to distinguish Hedychrum and Holopyga. Location: The Netherlands, southern part Size: rather ...

Re: Hedychrum nobile/niemelai male?

Yes, looks like male and female of either nobile or niemelai, but I suppose the "male" could also be either sex of gerstaeckeri, it's hard to tell what sex it is as its not possible to make out if it has black hairs on not on the head

Hedychrum nobile/niemelai male?

... and other wasps like Smicromyrme rufipes). The female H. nobile/niemelai was also spotted here. But I'm in doubt about the H. nobile/niemelai 'male'. It could also be another Hedychrum species. I spotted several species of Chrysididae on the sandy hill, going ...
