Hi Paul,
How do you find Hedychrum chalybaeum ??
I never found this species, even it have a large distribution !
I find often gerstaeckeri, rutilans, sometimes niemelai, in sandy area, nobile (but not in my region :s), longicolle is very common in south of France... but no chalybaeum ^^.

... ID. Anyway there are only two possible species with this colouration: Hedychrum nobile (Scopoli) or H. niemelai (Linsenmaier). Cheers Paolo

Es una hembra de Hedychrum nobile, H. niemelai o H. micans

I think it is Hedychrum nobile/niemelai (females Holopyga have this colour too, but nervation is different).

The males of nobile, niemelai & gerstaeckeri have this colour.

As far only nobile, rutilans, niemelai and gerstäckeri are known from Denmark.

thank you for your reply; is there any distinctive feature to be sure it is H.niemelai ? Or what sets these two species (H.nobile and H.niemelai) apart ?

I suppose that it's a small female of Hedychrum niemelai, but without the direct examination of the specimen is not possible to correctly identify this specimen.
