Trichrysis cyanea male (Netherlands)?

Postby pietsje » 24 May 2012 23:40

Am I correct in my assumption that this could be Trichryis cyanea? Picture today, The Netherlands, southern part, my garden. Is it possible to say if it is a male?

HI!

I would say male, beacuse the anal margin seems to be subtruncated.
However, it could be an optical effect. To be sure, we need an other picture from the back side.

Cheers

Thanks, Paolo, I made a picture just yet. It sat on exactly the same spot.

Hi Pietsje,

it's not easy. It looks like a male, but females are very variable in size and shape.
However your ID it's correct and I think that it's enough ;-)

Cheers

Many thanks...... they are very active in these days. Temp is above 25 degrees and many Tryoxylon spec. (and Pemphredon) are active in my garden. Pseudomalus auratus (your study object????) and Chrysis ignita are also very active... I'm still waiting for Pseudomalus violaceus.....
Kind regards,
Petra Fleurbaaij
