Hedychrum niemelai Linsenmaier, 1959 - from Romania

Hi,

With two other Chrysididae.
#2
Collected on flowers of Achillea in Cazanele Mari reserv (in Iron Gate Natural Park) from Romania. Only this female .

A bigger photo here.

Is possible to know more? This was posted also here.

Hi Cosmin,

female of Hedychrum, possibly nobile (Scopoli) or niemelai Linsenmaier.

You have to examine the last sternite (the last visibile segment of the abdomen in ventral view) and compare the shape with these:

After comparing and checking on binocular I will say H.niemelai, you want to unglue and do a photo?

Bye the way, I see that in FaunaEU this species is considered as ssp... Hedychrum aureicolle niemelai Linsenmaier, 1959

Yes,

I don't know why. Basically it has been described as H. aureicolle niemelai, but later always considered as a valid species by the most important author.

Be careful when you use Faunaeur.
It is correct, but unfortunately completely wrong about the distribution of the species.

For example, if you consider the most common European species (Trichrysis cyanea) on Faunaeur you can find that it is present only in Switzerland (!!!) :?

The same for Pseudomalus auratus (the other most common species): present only in Canary Is., Crete and Switzerland (!!!) :?

yes, i know but for now this is the only "reference" that I have to romanian fauna of Chrysididae :( .
