Chrysis longula Abeille, 1879 - Sweden

Postby pern71 » 03 Jul 2013 21:23

This one was big, almost 15mm I would say. Is size alone helpfull here? Is the difference in size big among individulas of the same sp.? Found on a dead dry spruce stump, Sweden.

Best regards!

Magnificient!

At that size I think it can only be Chrysis longula, and the habitus (especially the shining posterior part of tergum 2) fits in my view with that species. But I'm no expert...

The size varies a lot within species, but is still a usefull character for excluding alternatives etc, especially when it comes to extremities such as very big or small specimens.
