Chrysis fulgida Linnaeus, 1761 - CZ

Postby Sezima » 21 Jul 2013 22:03

Good evening everybody,

could this be a female of Chrysis fulgida ? I am a bit confused as the golden spot on the first segment is almost non-existent. Captured on 23 June 2013, Southern Bohemia, Czech republic.

Thank you.

You are correct, C. fulgida female for sure :) :ok:

What is the
the golden spot on the first segment is almost non-existent.
character you mention? Which, segment, the first abdominal tergite? I'm not familiar with this, what key are you using?

I think that the only similar species that is likely to co-occur in the Czech republic is Chrysis immaculata, but that species have a gold/red edge posteriorly on tergite 1. See viewtopic.php?f=8&t=90 and liks therein.

And as always, very nice pictures!

Good evening Alex,

thank you for your confirmation.

I was referring to the first tergite as in specimens I have captured so far, the golden spot on the side of the first tergite was always more or less visible (see photo).

I was also puzzled by the colour of the second tergite (although the metallic coloration changes with every angle). The tergites appeared to be blue/golden/red unlike the "usual"combination blue/red/red.

Anyway, I am wiser now. Thank you for the link.

Regards

David
