I'm pretty sure this is Chrysis subsinuata, but there doesn't seem to be any pictures of this species online, so I thought I'd take some.
Less sure about which subspecies, as Linsenmaier 1959 only gives relative characters in how to distinguish them.. it should be the nominate subspecies or unifasciata, Hoffman 1937, as fallax Mocsary, 1889 is an eastern taxon.

Thank you, good to hear the pictures are useful to someone, "character reference"-pictures, or sometimes even pictures at all, of chrysidids can be hard to find. Although Paolo's recent publication spree on museum types are an amazing resource!

Actually, we should make an database of which species there are pictures of, so its easy to find them for comparisons. Especially of type specimens of course, but also other, confirmed species wouldnt hurt - as long as they are labeled as such.

A medium sized Hedychridium sp., which I cannot place, beyond that its close to H. anale. Its not H. anale or H. elegantulum, as I have those species collected from the same area, and the combination of finely puncated face and metallic tibia should rule them out.

Have I missed something common again, perhaps something with another colour in the Iberian peninsula that Linsenmaier fails to mention?

fantastic list

I only observe:

1) Chrysis bidentata is surely something else, very likely Chrysis consanguinea or another similar species in this group.

2) instead of Chrysidea persica and C. pumila disclusa you have Chrysidea pumila and C. disclusa.

Paolo: Thanks for clearing up some things, especially the Chrysidea-mess, I thought I had it figured out after pouring over papers but apparently not.

I did realise it probably wasnt C. bidentata, as apparently its a synonym of C. viridula? The viridula-group is a not a easy thing to sort out, there's still some morphospecies left that I cant place.

Do you have any inkling what the Hedychridium species might be? Realised that I forgot to image the sternites , S-II is faintly metallic on each lateral half, but not medially connected. Otherwise totally dark brown/black

As there doesnt seem to be any good pictures online of Chrysis cerastes I thought I'd take some of my specimen. Looked up the figures in Linsenmaier 1959 and now I'm a bit uncertain, the head seems a bit broad and the apical rim too short? But maybe its within the variation of the species?

Edit: Compared it to the image in Crisidi della Valle d'Aosta, it looks much more like my specimen, so I suppose it must be cerastes

Bought a cheap old microscope lens for doing high magnification stuff, tried it out on a Chrysis chrysoprasina, Förster 1835 genital capsule, and imaged the specimen while I was at it as it was clean and ok-ish prepared.
