Ciao,

This images where posted also in the italian forum here.
Stilbum is a genus that I like a lot (from what I have seen in the photos) and this is the first one that was in my hands, thanks to Zdenko Lucbauer who collected this.

I'm sorry that the preparation is not the best :( ... on the next one ;) .

From Timor-Leste (E.Timor), Ossu, Mundo Perdido Mts , 945m, 6.XI.2011, leg. Z.Lucbauer... only this specimen.

Bigger photos here, here, here and here.

Hi Cosmin,

super-fantastic pictures, as usual.
I just gave the answer in the Italian forum, now I translate it English.

Your specimen is a male of Stilbum cyanurum (Forster). The other possible ID was S. chrysocephalum concolor.

The main differences between cyanurum and concolor are found in the shape of the head in dorsal view and metanotal projection.
I attached 2 pictures of the head and the projection of the male of S. chrysocephalum concolor from Ceylon.
The head of chrysocephalum concolor in frontal view shows: compound eyes larger, malar spaces shorter, transverse frontal carina not developed and drag out as in cyanurum. The metanotal projection is very shorter compared to the one of cyanurum.

The shape of the genital capsula in your picture are perfectly matching the one of the European S. cyanurum .

I hope those informations are usefull.
Cheers
Paolo

Ermh.. I seriously cannot find any faults with it, except the small fold on the wing? I wish that I could do half as good to be totally honest ;) Do you just use water to soften the animals, or Ethyl acetate aswell? Personally I find it hard to get enough "softness" in the joints (especially mandibles and wings) to mount them nicely.
