Cleptes afer perezii Gogorza, 1887 - Spain

Postby Jose Ignacio » 05 Feb 2012 13:19

Hello,
here's another from El Pardo (Madrid). 29/5/2011.
According to Fauna Ibérica I guess the most likely is Cleptes afer, but it has some small differences in the color pattern...

Thanks in advance.

Hi Jose,

yes, to be precise it is a male of Cleptes afer perezii Gogorza, 1887.
It is missing in Móczár, 1997.
perezii should be only a geografical form, however its abdomen is brillantly coloured. In the (beautiful) pictures it is not clear, but the first 2 tergites are orange without metallic colour; the remaining tergites are red metallic on the side (3°) or entirely red metallic (4° and 5°).

Cheers
Paolo
