Elampus sp.

Postby Paul » 04 Jul 2016 09:48

Hi,

two weeks ago I could take pictures of an Elampus-specimen. Is it possible to determinate it?

All the best Paul

Nice pictures, would say that is a female E. foveatus, but as the punctation on T2 isnt visible (something that is almost impossible to photograph on living animals) its more of a guess.

Hi Alex,
thank you very much!
I've added another picture. Is it useful?

Best regards Paul

Even though the picture is a bit blurry the shape of the apical plate is too wide to be E. constrictus from what I understand, so its likely E. foveatus. The punctation I was talking about is always covered by the wings by living specimens I'm afraid, its the middle line that is unpunctated in the latter species.

Thanks again, Alex!
I've compared the pictures with the ones shown in the article about the nordic Cuckoo-wasps.
To me also a female of E. foveatus was the favorite.
Best regards Paul
