I found some chrysidid on old stone walls of houses. I seen no many species, only this small Chrysis. For me it is C. cortii Linsenmaier, 1951, and I seen always small digger wasps Miscophus sp (Crabronidae), but I seen too many spider wasps (Agenioideus cinctellus, apicalis and nubecula, Pompilidae) on the same walls too during the observations (nubecula is not observed in my region, only more in south, during holidays).
However, I have seen 0 chrysidid on cliffs, scree , rock outcrop (calcareous rock), even in the same village (Montron-le-château, France).

super pictures and super interesting species.
Even if somewhere abundant in S France, it is always difficult to find it.

For sure that Miscophus is the host. It was already registered as parasitoid of Miscophus bicolor and M. niger (Linsenmaier 1959).

Another picture (Lot, south of France) : it looks like the "environment" where I found cortii : old walls in rocks, with sands or clay between rocks (Miscophus nest between rocks), in the villages (when there are many old houses in rocks or old walls).

I bet that you collect them mostly at the base of the walls, usually from ground level to 1 meter?

I was in south in France between 12 to 18 juni 2017 & during this week, we found new station of C. cortii : this species like nice stone wall, with cavities & interstices with loose substance (often sand). The wall when we found this species mades 1meter high maximum.

On walls, me & my friend found a big Chrysura (rufiventris), C. cf candens, Chrysis cf varidens, C. graelsi species group. These walls were habited by Megachilidae & Eumeninae especially.

I found Hedychridium incrassatum group (a red species with a carina along the margin of T III ?) on the edge of a wall.

nice, I would like to see pictures of the other species you met there.
C.cortii I saw only once this year and I only could get a miserable "documentation-shot",
but: it's still better than nothing...
