Chrysis rubrocoerula - Fuerteventura

Postby Mirex » 24 Feb 2019 00:06

Would it be possible to identify the species on the attached pictures? The pictures were taken on 04-02-2019 close to Betancuria (Fuerteventura, Spain). The individual was moving quickly on the ground, not visiting plants. Rather difficult to take focused picture. The body length was only about 5 mm.

It is a Chrysis sp., with this colour I think of several possibilities : Chrysis fulgida, immaculata or C. exulsans.

Absolutely fantastic :wohow:

Great finding indeed, it's the female of Chrysis rubrocoerula Linsenmaier, and endemic species,
it belongs to the Chrysis succincta group.

Super!
