New season

Postby Paul » 03 Mar 2019 20:32

Hi @ all,
although this year is no more really "fresh", the season in my area hasn't started yet.
But: on the 14.02. I visited my local area the first time this year and.. surprise...
I saw two chrysidids sitting on a dead rhizome warming up in the sun. This was by far the earliest time
I ever saw a chrysidid in my region. I guess the species is Chrysis terminata represented by two
nice ladies. Hope this is a good sign and we all have a fascinating and successful season!
All the best Paul

It looks like terminata but I am not sure (I need a good dorsal view of the head).

Thanks for your comment. There was a host of C. terminata arround at the same time:
Ancistrocerus nigricornis. This is also the host of C. ignita and I cannot rule out this species.
My thoughts of determination in this case only depend on experiences of former years.
So I'm not 100% sure...
Greetings Paul
