Chrysidid, small meadow area, N Italy

Postby briang » 11 Jul 2020 22:11

About 10.30, small damp meadow area in woods, Apennine foothills, Val d’Arda, N Italy. I was trying to photograph bees when this suddenly appeared next to me. It had its mouthparts in the flower for about 2 seconds then flew away. Looks quite like images of Chrysura dichroa, but I’d really like to know the correct genus (and species if possible...). Thanks for any help. Second image blurred as it flew but shows overall shape.

yes, it belongs to the Chrysura dichroa-complex, many very similar species to choose from, impossible from pictures

Thanks a lot Alex, I was so pleased to see it, to get an ID down to species group is just fine!
