Pseudomalus triangulifer

Postby Frank_Canon » 21 Aug 2020 02:30

I found this one near Le Havre, Northern France. The apical notch is deep and triangular, the antennas seem long and the total size is about 6mm. So I think it is P. triangulifer ?

Thanks :)

Thank you Eugene, this individual looks like P. auratus indeed, but I finally got confirmation about P. triangulifer. Actually the antennal segments are clearly longer than broad. The apical notch is apparently not something reliable for this species.

Hi,
in my opinion it's Pseudomalus auratus.

Thank you Paul, Villu Soon agreed about P. triangulifer because of the antennas "the only reliable character" ; I just can say that the size was really large, uncommon here for P. auratus (about 6mm long). But any other opinion is welcome !

Hi Frank,

I agree that this species should be Pseudomalus triangulifer.
In the second picture we can see the elongated flagellomeres of the antenna, this is the only reliable character for this species.

Cheers
