Monte Menegosa, PC, N Apennines, 20.viii.2020. Seen in area of hymenopteran nesting alongside path on stony mountain slope. Philanthus, Bembix and Halictis scabiosae present. Entered nest tunnel but owner unknown. She looks similar to Chrysura candens in your ‘Italian thumbnails’ section, but key parts of anatomy not visible! Tip of abdomen looked slightly pointed and dark, some of ovipositor visible. Is it possible to suggest a species?? Another, really large species present but not photographed! Thanks for advice (PS. Any thoughts on species I posted on 13 aug?)
Brian

Hi Brian. In your picture is a female Hedychrum rutilans Dahlbom, 1854.

Excellent. Thanks so much for your ID. With luck I might have one or two more before the season ends. Thanks again OEV84. Brian
I have just checked your species pages and see that Philanthus is a host - so that would fit nicely, lots of them carrying prey to nests!
