[Chrysis sp. - ignita complex]

Postby Frank_Canon » 02 Jun 2021 06:20

Here is a specimen that I also found on the beach, maritime cliff (Normandy, N. France). Any ID is welcome since I don't feel confortable with the "ignita complex" !

Thanks :)

Fantastic :photo:

I would say male of Chrysis ruddii for the the short pronotum, short teeth on the apical margin of the abdomen, red venter with black spots widely separated and subrectangular.
Chrysis rutiliventris is the similar species, but I don't think it is this case. Let's see if Alex or someone else has a different idea.

Cheers

I agree with Paolo, it could be the male to the female ignita-complex specimen you also posted.
