Medium size chrysidid, N Appenines

Postby briang » 25 Jun 2021 20:00

24.vi.2021, from the same site as the Stilbum, recently posted. It arrived on a small low plant with tiny succulent flowers where many ants and small wasps came to get nectar (I am trying to identify the plant…). The photos are not perfect but do seem to show a broad abdomen with dense punctation. It has some resemblance to Chrysis maderi, as identified on this website last year (from a location across the valley), but the colours are very different. Confirmation of the correct genus, and a species name if possible, would be very welcome! Many thanks.

 :wohow: :wow:

I think that this is a very interesting species and one of the most rare in Italy.
It looks like a Chrysis coeruleiventris Abeille de Perrin
Congratulations!

Paolo, you exceed my expectations every time! I was not sure about getting an ID, but such an interesting species!!! I only have a few days left in Italy but the chrysidids have been so good to me :D :D :D . I will return to that site before leaving and perhaps it might turn up again….? Thank you again for your help.
