Distinctive chrysidid? N Apennines.

Postby briang » 16 Jun 2023 21:54

15 June 2023. Val d’Arda (PC), N Apennines, Italy. On grassy and flower-rich dry bank, cracked soil and limestone debris. To my eye the green-yellow shading on the anterior of T3 of was quite distinctive, but more striking was the impression of shiny pale green or yellowish reflections on the lateral parts of the mesonotum. I was not able to get a clear view of pits on the apical margin of T3 but there seem to be no teeth or projections. I have not found an image online that exactly matches but Chrysis subsinuata is somewhat similar. This is a new species for me so I’d really like to have a name!

Thank you for your reply. I had forgotten that the male of frivaldszkyi is so different from the female! Indeed it seems rather similar to female subsinuata perhaps. I had not realised that my photos show a male! Thanks again.,
