Is this a Chrysis ignita?

Kurt

I can only add one attachment at a time, don't know why.
Here's the second photo.

the Chrysis ignita group always have 4 teeth at the tip of the abdomen, this one has none. No teeth "edentate T3" can occur in some Chrysis species, but is more common in Chrysura, and together with the general look I'm confident its the latter genus. Maybe Chrysura austriaca, can you take a photo of the head from the front?

Yes, it looks very much like Chrysura austriaca to me, but could conceivably be a closely related species.
Where was the specimen collected, Germany?

Hallo everyone,

yes, it's a Chrysura austriaca (Fabricius)
I think that should be a new record for Portugal, I have to check.

Cheers

Hi Kurt

Great find. It does seem to be a new species for Portugal. We are compiling a list of the Portuguese fauna - do you have details of the record: location, date, any other information?

That's great news! I'm just an amateur, having fun with taking pictures of Aculeata. It's my second great find apparently, because I also found and collected the first Portugese Chrysis taczanovskii since 1947 on the same spot.
Here are the details: http://observado.org/waarneming/view/126738517#
If you'll write an article on this species, let me know, it would mean a lot to me.
