A nice observation in south of France (Montirat, Aude) 2016 VII 14 :)

At the beginning I identified 3 specimens as female rutilans (small red reflects on head & pronotum), but in Puy-de-Dôme (Auvergne), I found a female rutilans : and colour are very red !!! There are more green colour than red on head, pronotum and scutum.
conclusion : >>> this female is also longicolle, not ?

We have not found many sphecid species around these chrysidids : only Bembix, Philanthus and small Cerceris (too small for this chrysid).

Hi Jerome,

yes, it's what Linsenmaier called: Hedychrum intermedium [= rutilans] viridiaureum Tournier, 1877.

Probably only molecular analysis will clarify if it is a valid taxon or a simple variation of H. rutilans.

Cheers

How can I differentiate the 3 forms of rutilans (rutilans, viridiaureum & viridiauratum) ?
