Is it possible to ID this large Hedychrum (8,8 mm) from Kulsbjerg, Zealand, Denmark?

Kindly, Brian.

Female of either H. niemelai or nobile. Cannot separate them without a specimen and microscope! But I am no expert, just someone who likes to watch and photograph chrysidids. Perhaps one of the experts will confirm.

Hi Brian!

It's a female of Hedychrum nobile.

In case of large specimens, they are only H. nobile.

It is more difficult to identify a specimen based on its size if it is about 6 mm, because you can always find small specimens of [i] H. nobile. [/ i]

Cheers

Hi Paolo, thanks for correcting my answer to Brianwillum! Good to learn about the size difference; I wonder if it holds true for UK populations because I have some images of large individuals that I can perhaps now call nobile!
